Marco is my guy. My absolute ride-or-die. The classic rescue that rescued me. This is important.

By the time I found Maggie on a ‘HOME NEEDED’ Facebook post, I had been with Marco for three good years. Great years. We were inseparable. If there was a bed, he was sleeping in it. If there was a car, he was riding shotgun. I I was eating a burger? He knew he’d be in for one of his own too. Best friends, through and through.

BUT!!! He wasn’t in the car when I picked Maggie up. This is also very important.

Important because while he knew he was the top dog, she THOUGHT she was. They’d wrassle. They’d fight. They were both very confused as to what was going on. Little did they know…they both are, to my amazement, perfect - the best and most stubborn and funniest and smelliest dogs in the world.

In the years since, they’ve continued to go at each other, but they’ve also shown me a number of things. They’ve shown me how to love. How to live.
How to appreciate sitting next to a sprinkler on a hot day, listening to the birds in the trees.

They’ve also shown me how to operate the tubs at Pet Supplies Plus after they roll in shit, helped me learn to clean carpets and do mass loads of laundry, taught me the power of routine (when they want snacks), shown me how to cry through the pain and laugh when it’s over.
