Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Marco Project?

The Marco Project is a mission-driven initiative offering free, compassionate end-of-life pet photography to help families preserve meaningful moments with their beloved pets.

Is The Marco Project a nonprofit?

No, The Marco Project is not a nonprofit. It operates under Woodbird Visuals, with funding coming from paid pet photography sessions and donations. This allows me to continue offering free sessions while also supporting my business.

Will The Marco Project ever be a 501(c)(3)?

That’s the plan! We are currently in the application process to become a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. While we’re not yet a registered nonprofit, we are committed to transparency and accountability in how donations and funds are used to support the mission of The Marco Project. Once approved, becoming a 501(c)(3) will allow us to expand our reach and offer additional benefits to those who support the project.

How is The Marco Project funded?

The Marco Project is funded through:

  • Paid pet photography sessions – A portion of each session helps support free end-of-life sessions.

  • Donations from pet lovers – Contributions go directly toward making these sessions possible.

  • My time and resources – I personally invest in travel, editing, and session time to ensure families receive high-quality images.

What do families receive in a free session?

Each family receives:

  • A peaceful, stress-free session tailored to their pet’s comfort.

  • A selection of beautifully edited, high-resolution images to cherish forever.

  • The option to hold the session at home, outdoors, or anywhere meaningful.

I’d love to support The Marco Project. How can I help?

You can help in a few ways:

  • Book a regular pet session – Every paid session helps fund free ones.

  • Donate directly – Contributions cover travel, editing, and prints for families in need.

  • Spread the word – Share The Marco Project with friends, family, and pet owners who may need it.

I’m a veterinarian. How can we work together?

Veterinarians play a key role in helping families navigate end-of-life care. I’d love to collaborate by:

  • Offering informational materials at your clinic.

  • Being a referral resource for clients seeking end-of-life photography.

  • Exploring partnerships to make this service more widely available.
